Injection Foam Insulation Information

There are many advantages to injection foam insulation to reinsulate your walls in your existing home. Reinsulating your walls with injection foam doesn’t require gutting your home to install. Injection foam is the consistency of shaving cream when installed and does not expand when injected.  It is pumped in through a hose filling voids in and matching the shape of your homes structure.  If there is insulation in the walls, that insulation is compressed with increasing the thermal efficiency of your home, reducing the air infiltration (drafts), and reducing the amount of energy required to heat and cool your home.

It offers energy efficiency, sound reduction, and fire-resistance. However, it is not the best choice for new construction, which is why spray foam is often used in new construction.

When To Use Injection Foam Insulation

When looking for the best insulation for your home, there are three main options to consider: Spray foam, fiberglass or cellulose, and injection foam.  Spray foam is used for most insulation applications during construction or in unfinished areas of the home such as the basement and attic. Fiberglass and cellulose are typically cheap alternatives used during new construction to save construction cost when building to sell a home for profit and where the cost of heating and cooling doesn’t matter because the builder will not live in the home.  Injection foam insulation is typically used to reinsulate and improve the efficiency and comfort of a home that was insulated with inferior products like fiberglass or cellulose.
